London Scuba Diving Pool Sessions

Latest News - Dive Kingston/ Dive Wimbledon

4 -5 June
All boys!! It's a long time since we had a class consisting of all boys. Usually the class is 50:50 or more women than men.
Ian, Luke, Craig and Matt put aside their disappointment and got stuck into the Open Water Referral scuba diving course with relish. They were all extremely comfortable in the water with superb buoyancy. New Zealander Adam(Whales) helped out after years working for Cairn Dive Centre, the biggest PADI scuba diving school in Australia.
On the Sunday they were joined by Karl who is already a Scuba Diver but wants to complete the full Open Water course in the Red Sea. David Sketchley returned from Sweden to lend a hand.
Gary and Chloe jumped in the pool with Bob to complete their pre-holiday refreshers.

1 June

Another Wednesday evening and time for another Rescue course.
Dale, Casper, Caroline and Rob all started the new Rescue diver course with Module 1 of the theory followed by the first 2 pool skills. Arne acted as assisstant and was unsuccessfully drowned several times while Dave looked on.
Afterwards we joined Caroline and Mandy at The Putney Paige for a quite beer and a chat about the Dahab holiday. Mandy has decided we need to organise a trip to the Maldives for next year. Sounds like a good plan to me.

24 May

Zoe and Barbara completed their diving pool sessions for the PADI Open water course while Matthew took a refresher course with Roger.
22 May
Back from Dahab and straight back into diving.
Bob completed an EFR course with Ben and Shaun. Nathan taught Samantha, Zoe and Barbara all the theory for the PADI Open Water course and half the pool skills.
In the evening Chris, Brian and Dilys practised for their qualifying dives for the Open Water dive course.
Simon practised his Drysuit skills in preperation for his trip to Horsea Island to Qualify.

11 May

Our last Wednesday before the Dahab trip and everybody came along to get in some last minute practise and collect their equipment for the holiday. Arne, Chris(I'm going on holiday so I thought I'd get a cold), Maddy, Louise, Mandy, James and Arne all played while Jenny completed a refresher with Duncan.
Shaun Gallop took his 2 friends for a refresher session.
Next stop... sunshine and warm water

7 - 8 May

Our first trip to Wraysbury for the year. A bit chilly I thought but Stuart and Louis had a great time.
We completed 3 Open Water qualifying dives on the Saturday and one on the Sunday morning. Both the guys did really well and I am sure they will go on to be good divers. Stuart is off to Egypt on Holiday while Louis will continue to dive with us and also asked when he could start his Advanced course.

London Scuba Diving

20 April - Dive Wimbledon and Dive Kingston were at the pool again!

A very relaxing night at the pool. Louis completed most of the remaining skills from his Referral course with Roger while Ian, Petrea and Arne practised. Petrea completed her course with us at the weekend and took advantage of the cheap practise sessions we offer to our students. By the end of the night she was looking very comfortable under the water and I am sure whe will get complimented by the Instructor on Tioman Island in Malaysia when she completes her qualifying dives. We pride ourselves on the quality of our teaching and are thrilled when students come back to practise and fine tune their scuba diving skills.

Have a great holiday Petrea and Ian!!

Dive Kingston's Latest Scuba Diving Courses

2-3 April - London Scuba Diving - http://www.divewimbledon.com

Another successful weekend of scuba diving at Putney Leisure Centre.

The PADI Open Water Referral course took place over both days as usual. Kiwis Sheryl Mackenzie and Dave Brunton and English Maddy Hayes were our newest students. They all did really well with all the theory and pool skills. Their buoyancy was particularly good and by the end of Sunday night they were all extremely comfortable in the water. Well done guys. Sheryl and Dave are off to the Maldives to complete their scuba diving course(lucky them) while Maddy will be coming to the Red Sea with Dive Wimbledon to complete her course.

Rob Greenwood and his wife Jo brought their daughter Georgia and her friend David along to complete the Bubblemaker scuba diving course. The kids loved it and the digital camera captured it all. I wish I'd had a chance to try scuba when I was 9!!!!

Peter Seed brought his daughter and friend along to snorkel while he practised and played again.

Arne and Victor played again while Richard and his girlfriend Sarah practised their skills.

On the Sunday Arne and Louise practised and we all went to the pub afterwards for a quiet drink. The only down side was they were out of crisps!!

London Diving

Scuba diving in Kingston, Wimbledon and Putney in London isn't as unlikely as many people seem to think. Several years ago scuba diving was a much less popular sport. Now everybody knows somebody who has taken their PADI course, if not several people.

Most people are still tropical divers but diving in the UK is becoming more popular all the time. Drysuits are far more comfortable than they were years ago and it is easy to get used to the change in buoyancy.

UK scuba diving is quite stunning on the right day, and most weekends there is somewhere you can dive and get good visibility. We are so close to the South Coast and within an hour can be down on the coast and getting ready to get on the dive boat and head out to do what we love most. Give it a try!!

Spring

Tomorrow spring arrives. Okay so the odd snowflake has fallen today but I still think it's going to get better.

Today I went to Kingston Upon Thames to deliver some scuba diving materials for a new customer and I noticed that it's starting to be light for longer in the evenings. I've just made it back to Wimbledon and it's still light at 5.55pm. I can't help smiling!! It's amazing how the thought of summer coming can give us all such an amazing boost.

Not long to wait now!! Summer means lots of diving!!!
